- Disabling a Popup Blocker during Credit Sessions
Popups are pain in the neck, and more people are downloading
Popup Blockers to crush the little buggers. But Blockers
can have an unwanted side-effects.
If you can log into the 1 Source Data web site but you can't
run reports, there's a good chance your Popup Blocker is
the cause. Here's how to fix it.
Popup blockers or popup stoppers prevent extra popup windows
(usually advertisements) from opening in your browser. Examples
of popup blocker applications include:·
AdCrusher Popup Killer
CoffeeCup PopUp Blocker
Consulting Nation Popup XP
Exit Killer
Google Toolbar Popup Blocker
NoPops!
Norton Internet Security
PAL Popup Eliminator
Panicware
Pop This!
Popup Begone
Popup Blocker
Pop up Commander
Pop-up Stopper
StopPops
Stop Zilla
Yahoo Toolbar with Pop-Up Blocker
Norton Personal Firewall
Norton AntiSpam
ToolBar 3.1 (w/ pop-up blocker)
ZoneAlarm
Depending on your Blocker, the installation and your software
environment, the pop-up blocking software may keep you from
getting the reports you order. This is because Blockers
typically disable the JavaScript used by popup ad windows.
Unfortunately, that may also disable other functionality
that uses JavaScript.
If you're experiencing this problems you'll need to disable
(or un-install) the popup blocker.
The disable procedure is different for each Blocker. Start
by looking for help files in your popup blocker for instructions,
or look for menus or buttons on the toolbar that will allow
you to uninstall or disable the blocker.
Many popup blockers can by temporarily disabled by clicking
on the System Tray icon (at the bottom right of your Windows
screen). Some programs require that you remove them completely.
Others, like E-Anthology/Stop-Sign, are often installed
by file sharing programs like Bear Share or Kaaza. You may
want to remove these programs anyway, since they use up
system resources.
To remove or uninstall a program instead of just disabling
it, use the Add/Remove Programs utility in Windows. Follow
these steps:
1. Click Start > Settings > Control Panel > Add/Remove
Programs.
2. Look for the name of the program installed (such as Popup
Begone)
3. Select the program name, and then click Remove.
4. Follow any instructions you are given, then close the
Control Panel.
Pressing the CTRL key down to temporarily disable a popup
blocker only works for some products. Pressing the CTRL
key does not disable Norton's Personal Firewall or AntiSpam
products.
Additional info: Norton AntiSpam has settings to control
the handling of ad messages and popup windows. You only
need to disable the popup blocker setting while using 1
Source Data products and services.
