Browser Settings in Internet Explorer
1 Source Data requires the use of ActiveX controls, scripts, session data and persistent cookies within Internet Explorer. You should be able to access the system by using Internet Explorer's default browser settings. However, if these settings are changed, you will need to restore them.

Browser settings for Internet Explorer are shown in the Internet Options control panel. To load this panel from Internet Explorer, select the Tools menu and choose Internet Options...

The screen below is from Internet Explorer 6.0. Version 5.5 has fewer tabs, but has the same basic functionality.
- The Security tab controls Microsoft Internet Explorer 's security settings. If these are set improperly, 1 Source Data may lose some functionality or not work at all.
- The Privacy tab, only available on Internet Explorer 6, controls cookies on your computer. If 1 Source Data is unable to set or store cookies, you may be unable to log in or print correctly.
- The Programs tab controls auxiliary programs, and allows you to reset your default browser for Windows. If you have installed AOL, then you may need to reset these settings.
- The Advanced tab controls advanced browser settings. If some of these settings are incorrect, 1 Source Data may not be able to load.
The control panel has three buttons at the bottom: OK, Cancel, and Apply. Apply applies your changes without exiting from the control panel. OK applies your changes and exits. Cancel exits without saving your changes. |
| Security Settings |
|
The security panel controls settings relating to ActiveX, file downloads, scripting, and other important dynamic HTML facets. Internet Explorer's default setting, Medium, is recommended by Microsoft for most web sites, and should work fine with 1 Source Data.
Before you adjust any settings, make sure that you have selected the correct content zone. Select Internet from the list near the top to choose Internet settings. If the security level is not specified as Medium or lower, press the Default Level button to reset your Internet settings to Medium.

If you do not want to reset your overall Internet settings, you may elect to designate your 1 Source Data website as a trusted site, and use a lower security level for trusted sites. Select Trusted Sites and press the Sites button to launch the trusted sites list; type in the site URL and press Add to add it. Press OK to return to the Internet Options dialog.

| Cookie Privacy Settings (Internet Exlorer 6.x only) |
|
The settings under the Privacy tab control which cookies are allowed by Internet Explorer. The default level, Medium, will work fine with 1 Source Data. Press the Default button to reset your settings to Medium. If Medium is already selected, this button will be disabled.

You should also verify that you have no advanced rules set. To check this, press the Advanced button, and look at the dialog that appears. Make sure that the Override automatic cookie handling option is NOT checked. (If you have chosen to place your 1 Source Data site in the Trusted Zones list, this will not apply.)

The Advanced and Edit buttons on the Privacy Control Panel can be used in concert to allow you more control over the cookies that your computer accepts. These features are intended only for advanced users; if you ask us for help on these advanced features, we will tell you to use the default settings. |
| Programs Tab |
|
These settings are primarily used to choose which helper applications are used by Internet Explorer. Most of these settings are not necessary for 1 Source Data to work, however this screen allows you to reset Windows settings for the default Web browser.
You may need to reset these Web settings if you have previously installed another web browser. If you use AOL to access the Internet, you will need to reset your settings to make the regular version of Internet Explorer your default web browser.
To make Internet Explorer your default Web browser, click on the Reset Web Settings... button. A confirmation dialog will appear, asking you to confirm your selection. If you do not want to reset Internet Explorer's home page, deselect the checkbox. Press the Yes button to confirm this action.

| Advanced Tab |
|
The Advanced panel controls various advanced options in Internet Explorer. Some of these settings may affect how 1 Source Data works. If you suspect that some of these settings may be causing 1 Source Data not to load correctly, reset them by pressing the Restore Defaults button. Some settings might require that you then shut down Internet Explorer and restart it before those changes go into effect.

If you regularly print the Web-based reports instead of just using the PDF or ePrint utilities, you may want to select the option to print background colors and images. This will make the shading appear correctly when you print out a Web-based report. A word of warning: if you print items from other websites, they may be adversely effected by having their background colors printed. | |
